La Boissiere Ecole 2013

Owing to a wonderful piece of co-operation between the Stanton St John Team and that of LBE, the events will alternate year for the forseeable future, which means that this September will see the return of one of my favourite events Smilie_PDT

Apart from the dedicated website, one can read a bit more about the philosophy of the LBE team at this site,

Truly laudable intentions, and sad to say, while the French units have made considerable progress in terms of composite battalions, the British are lagging a little behind. Have a look at the video of Plancenoit 2010 on the above link, or ask anyone who faced the French juggernaut at Waterloo that year, and ask yourself if that isn't something worth aiming for? (warning: you may wish to turn the sound down)

Mmm. Now I've got my greys and belgic sorted I may have to start negotiating a weekend pass.
Marc Demi-Frog

I'd be more than happy to accommodate you, John!

Cheers Ben for highlighting the united battalion ideal that the French groups over on the continent have been pushing through now since 2004.

It is indeed strange that prior to this push to form scaled-down but regulation-respecting battalions, the French often marvelled at the British capability to form a big unit by amalgamating several groups together (the French at the time would wander around with the ethos of "1 association = 1 regiment") but they have now surpassed them as they can now form scaled down battalions with 3-4-5-6 companies with the 4 "cadres" per company as well as battalion commander and adjudant and adjudant-major. The British though have stayed on what is basically a very big company set-up with "certain liberties". (though I have found more than one inconsistancy with what was set-up on the re-enactement and what is prescribed within Dundas...even "A" Company works like this as I found out at Waterloo 2011). Time to step up, me thinks.

Not quite there yet but a compromise has indeed been found (though it did cost me the participation of the Coldstream Guards).[/quote]

I have a horrible feeling that the NA's version of SSJ will be a watered down edition with no French opposition. So essentially redcoats camping in a field playing wargames against other redcoats masquerading as Frenchmen in their greatcoats. Pas pour moi, merci.

I shall be at LBE for the campaign experience Smilie_PDT

I also will be at LBE and looking forwards to it. Why sleep in a tent when you can be really uncomfortable lying on the ground.

I'm up for LBE if I can get the time off.

Recruiting at the moment is going very well...1/3 of my cavalry is British but apart from you guys, I have no other native Brits attending as infantry (though the 92nd in the Netherlands and the 42nd in Germany have registered).

I've also got a canon but no gunners.
I've also got the beginnings of a very small staff.

The Dutch have also signalled their strong presence with hussars and about 70% of my infantry as well as a sappeur corps for labouring.  q14
