De Bosset?

Hello Folks

I have come across varying references to a book by Charles Phillipe De Bosset:

"A view of the British Army on the present establishment in the year 1803"

I have seen a print from this book illustrating uniforms - and apparently there is a chart depicting lace.

I cannot  find it in the British Library catalogue, Google books or for sale on Abebooks. There are no linked images in the A S K  Brown collection.

Anybody know anything about it??

Hi Eddie, is this the image your after?

P.S. don't show this to the 33rd as they get upset. LOL.

Obadiah,

That's really cool. Is there a higher res/easier to read version
floating around out there somewhere? Thanks for posting this.

Hi Alex, I doubt it very much. I can't remember where I got that copy from. I don't know how your viewing it but when I view it I can blow it up to a good size and it stays focused {I just use Microsoft}.

Another similar set of plates is by Hamilton Smith. This shows the Army in 1812. Here is one of the plates taken from Wellington Army, Uniforms of the British Soldier 1812-1815 {Greenhill Books}.

The first image (of de Bossett) is from the National Army Museum. They can supply copies on request for a fee. Their reserve collection is undergoing one of its periodic restructuring embargos but it may well be on file in the database.

Wow ! Thats exactly what I was after !  Thanks.

So is this from a book or is it just a chart alone? It certainly merits wider viewing for the nice little illustrations too.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of information that can be got from this Forum - makes me proud -  and as you know I'm not one for blowing our own trumpet !

Hi Eddie, always a pleasure never a chore.

By the looks of it I would say the De Bossett is a chart/poster, unlike the HS.

Alex,
I have a high rez but I'd really prefer it if you got it from the NAM - just to support the Museum (I'm sure you understand). Contact the Photo dept. Will cost you around 6.
