Genuine or fake?

I can't wait to hear Eddie's comments about the numerals within the bugle horn!  :-)

Quick glance I thought it said 'Penis seller'

whoops
Ben Townsend

'Peninsula' is the usual form. Peninsular being an adjective Smilie_PDT
The scrimwork looks like it was finished about half three this afternoon.  q18

Spout looks all wrong. I've got one like that on a Victorian brass shotgun flask.

Pretty sure there was a Steve Pountney in the 95th in the mid 90s, also Alan Taylor (RIP) had a very decorative powder horn.
Ben Townsend

Well spotted Rob! When will we see you back in green? This year I hope Smilie_PDT

Have a look at page 47 of "Marching with Sharpe" by B J Bluth, Harper and Collins 2001. Not the same one but very similar.

That was a god awful book. They should have been bayoneted for that. Thanks Pate for reminding about it. I'm now in an even fouler mood. Grrrr.

q6  glad to be of service, Sir!
Eddie

I actually like the look of this piece even if it is spoof. The writing is well done and the appearance is pleasing - but Talavera??

Isn't that the battle the Light Division famously marched so hard to join but didn't quite make it?  42 miles in 26 hours.

Why pick Talavera? Its about the only battle the 95th missed.
Ben Townsend

I agree with you Eddie, its very well done, and looks the part. A great camp project, all you need is horn and a rusty nail. And a bit of talent.
