"Special edition Belgic"

Wear one to Waterloo 200 - astonish your friends!
Obadiah

Oh dear god.

My word

Christ

Lordy lordy

How many shall we order?
Eddie

Someone went to a lot of effort to get matching grey cords and cockade - makes you wonder why.

Joking apart - other than the colour - the cords are not the worst I have seen by a long chalk and the cockade seems constructed of the same type of material as the one in the museum in Bristol:

Can anyone identify what the cockade is made of?
Obadiah

I'm not sure Eddie but it looks like a coil of fringe? Remember when Keith R at the Chalke Valley a couple of years ago showed us a loom which they make their pom poms etc.

Dave for someone not sure you said it six times!
I don't think that is fringing as all the strands lay side by side.
Neibelungen

It's a very heavy grossgrain ribbon made with what looks to be floss (or raw silk) yarn rather than twisted yarn.

The grey  one  seems to be using a looped upholstery fringe.

The seller's entire stock is  Indian made metalwork,  so  I guess their probably copying the silhouette of the white belgic's that were produced for use  in tropical climates.  Probably a bad b/w image  of the same.

Thanks Andrew - thought you would know if anyone did!

Stunning. That is, I'm stunned!

However his French shakos seem good value. You couldn't buy the component parts for less.
Eddie

And yet his "Bearskins" are 586 - and strange looking objects they are.

Yes I noticed them. Pricey. I certainly wouldn't buy one without seeing is in the flesh (or fur?). Venturing into the world of furry hats it on my to-do list if I ever get my hands on a dead Yogi.
